  3. Nov 07,  · Listen to what the good doctor says - this c.d is pretty damn hot,in fact Smith's best for quite some time. With the addition of an extra guitar to his usual trio it adds extra harmonic depth and punch and the added bonus is that that the extra man is Peter Bernstein who,in my opinion,is one of the best jazz guitarists around/5(12).

  5. The Doctor Is In Doctor Lonnie Smith is back. I don’t know what he’s a doctor for, but he’s definitely got a Doctorate of Groove. His latest is “Too Damn Hot!” He’s so hot he’s cool. Another great set with a band finely tuned to his mood. An album destined for many plays. By tonym (Brisbane, Australia).

  7. Hammond B-3 boss Dr. Lonnie Smith ends up on yet another new label with Too Damn Hot!, the follow-up to his thoroughly enjoyable -- if curious -- Boogaloo to Beck outing from This studio set places the organist in the company of two fine guitarists -- Peter Bernstein (lead) and Rodney Jones (rhythm), and alternating drummers Greg Hutchinson and Fukushi Tainaka.
  8. Dr. Lonnie Smith Too Damn Hot! Review. Album. Released 'Too Damn Hot' may just be the best jazz organ record of the last 30 years. but it is the good Doctor Smith who can claim to be.
